Apparently the St. George airport has outgrown its old “regional” name, the NBA has hired a Utah man after the graphic artist redesigned the Utah Jazz logo as a “fun side project,” and the 2015 Huntsman World Senior Games prepares to kick off October 5th through the 17th.

St. George recently changed its name from “municipal” to “regional” and recent data shows why. The Federal Aviation Administration found that the St. George Regional Airport had 59, 321 passengers fly out of St. George in 2014, a reported 8.7% increase in the number of travelers from last year. According to Rich Stehmeier the current airport manager, “It was unexpected. We actually expected the number to go down,” Stehmeier said. Most of the uptick in activity is thanks to the airport’s new daily flights between St. George, Utah, and Denver, Colorado.
According to KSL.com, a St. George Utah man has a new job after his redesigned logo for the Utah Jazz caught the attention of the NBA. Addison Foote, from St. George Utah was hired him to create some innovative graphics for the NBA. Addison noted he’s long been fascinated with the graphic arts, and the idea of becoming an artist. With a degree from Southern Utah’s Dixie State University in visual technology, Foote thought it would be a great idea to combine his love of graphic arts and the NBA – allowing him to update and modernize the Jazz team logo. “I’ve always loved basketball and followed the NBA my whole life so I love doing side projects with that,” he said. “I love logo design a lot. … I kind of just happened one day to click and think, ‘Hey, I want to try redesigning an NBA logo.’ So I did.”
The annual Huntsman World Senior Games are preparing kickoff the 2015 event starting October 5th and running through the 17th. For St. George, Utah, the Huntsman World Senior Games is one of the biggest fiscal draws for their rapidly expanding economic base. Those individuals over the ripe young age of 55, gather in southern Utah for a little social interaction and some serious competition. Initially kicking off in 1987, The Huntsman World Senior Games began has been an economic force in southern Utah ever since.
