St. George Open House Directory: October 1, 2016

St. George, Utah – it Saturday, October 1 and there is currently a total of five Open Houses scheduled on the Washington County Board of Realtors Flex MLS system for today.

While Fortune.com reported last week, the Beehive State (a.k.a. Utah) currently has four high-tech startup companies in state valued at over $1 billion each, the Salt Lake Tribune reported Utah leads the nation in personal income growth. Unrelated news, I don’t think so. As more would be “Silicon Valley” startups discover the intrinsic value of relocating to the “Silicon Slopes,” thanks to its plethora of highly educated students, improved quality of life, and reduced cost of living – individual personal income grew by 1.4% in State between the first and second quarter of 2016.

Regardless of the rationale for relocating to the great state of Utah, these five St. George Utah real estate listings are scheduled as Open Houses for today in Washington County, and can be found in the following subdivisions: Mulberry Estates – St. George, Red Butte – St. George, and Meadow Creek Estates – St. George

What’s The Buzz In Southern Utah?

What’s The Buzz In Southern Utah?

Jubilee of Trees

Jubilee of Trees

Southern Utah’s Annual Jubilee of Trees: November 20 — 24th

It’s November 16, just 11 short days before Thanksgiving 2014 and St. George Utah is starting to get into the holiday spirit. In just four short days the Jubilee of trees will convert the Dixie Convention Center into a veritable forest of holiday spirit. The 34th annual Jubilee of Trees has long been a celebrated tradition throughout southern Utah – enjoyed by thousands annually. While the primary focus of this event has been to raise funds for the good work performed by the doctors at the Dixie Regional Medical Center. The holiday themed event is a cherished community experience that encompasses an auction, talent show, fashion show, luncheon and a grand Holiday themed dinner.

Next up is the Southern Utah’s Red Rock Film Festival – November 12 – 15 (Ending today)

St. George Utah is known for a lot of things. However, an international film Festival has historically not been one of them. At least until a couple of years ago; now, on an annual basis the Red Rock film Festival rolls through town – thrilling southern Utah’s cinematic aficionados in the greater St. George area. While not on the same scale as Robert Redford’s Park city event, the red rock film Festival is a retreat for independent filmmakers. Providing a venue for small films to premiere. Allowing their cinematic debuts, followed by in-depth discussions with other enlightened fans of filmmaking.

Running With The Gobblers

Running With The Gobblers

St. George Utah: Running With The Gobblers!!

Disregard Ernest Hemingway, and his notion that running with Bulls is a life-affirming event; with Thanksgiving 2014 just around the corner, St. George is about to take a day dedicated to foodies and glutens alike – and turn it on its head. While the rest of America focuses on properly preparing their roast beast – residents of St. George will start their Thanksgiving Day with a race structured towards family fun. Running early so they might eat guilt free later; adults will have the option of participating in either a 10K or 5K race… Meanwhile the little ones will be able to earn their afternoon meal by participating in the 1K for kids. According to St. George magazine, “The Gobbler” will be an efficiently run event. Kicking off at 7 AM with the actual races for the adults starting at 8 AM, the award ceremonies will take place as soon as the race has completed.

Ending November on a High Note: The Southwest Symphony Rocks Nov. 30 – Dec. 1

Creating an angelic atmosphere for Southern Utah, November 30 through December 1 at the Cox Performing Arts Center, the Southwest Symphony Orchestra will perform “Handel’s Messiah” starting at 7:30 PM, November 30 on the campus of Dixie State University.

Southern Utah’s Business Buzz:

 SkyWest Airlines

SkyWest Airlines

On the great News front: SkyWest maintains St. George Utah as their primary headquarters!

As a major player in the regional airline game, SkyWest’s recent announcement of their intention to continue utilizing St. George as their headquarters was met with a massive sigh of financial relief. According to SkyWest representative Layne Watson, “We’ve had opportunities over the years to move headquarters, but there is something about Southern Utah.” Whether it’s the reduced cost of living for their employees, or the close proximity to Las Vegas, SkyWest has decided that southern Utah has exactly what they need.

St. George Harmons

St. George Harmons

St. George Harmons Gets a Stylish Upgrade!

As an ex California resident forced into a financial exodus from the not so “Golden State” over 10 years ago, there were a few things I missed initially; Trader Joe’s, the Whole Food grocery store chain… and sad to say Macy’s. While there’s still no Macy’s in town, I was thrilled when I discovered Harmons in St. George. Sure, they don’t sell “Two Buck Chuck” at Harmons, but they do have a wide assortment of boutique items sure to satisfy even the most sophisticated of palates. The Harmons store in St. George celebrated its grand reopening this month as a means of putting the greater St. George area on notice; quality food counts.

Well, that’s it for me today. I’m done with my Open House and writing, so it’s time to head back to the abode and take a well-deserved siesta.

Enjoy what’s left of your weekend!
